Bound in richly patterned Ajrakh textile, this journal celebrates the centuries-old block-printing traditions of Kutch. Its intricate patterns and deep colours bring a sense of heritage to everyday writing, while recycled paper pages offer space for ideas, memories and reflections.
A matching brass bookmark reinterprets a motif from the textile, carrying its distinctive geometry from cloth into metal. Together, the two pieces celebrate the relationship between pattern, material and craftsmanship.
Presented in a gift box, this pairing makes a thoughtful gift for writers, bibliophiles and those who appreciate India’s living craft traditions.

AJRAKH - A Heritage in Pattern
Ajrakh is a centuries-old tradition of hand block printing practised by artisan communities in Kutch, India and passed down through generations.
Creating an Ajrakh textile is a slow and exacting process that can involve as many as sixteen stages of preparing, washing, resist printing, dyeing and sun-drying the cloth.
Each colour is applied separately using intricately carved wooden blocks, carefully aligned to build the repeating pattern. Traditional Ajrakh is recognised by its rich indigo, madder red, black and white palette, and its symmetrical arrangements of stars, flowers and geometric forms.
Historically worn as turbans, shawls and garments by pastoral and agricultural communities, Ajrakh is more than a decorative textile. It carries the memory of its landscape, its makers and a remarkable living tradition of craftsmanship.
Founder’s Note: Ajrakh Journal
Working with Indian textiles has been one of the enduring joys of my life as a designer. I love their colour, texture and extraordinary variety, and the many ways in which a piece of cloth can carry the character of a place and the skill of its makers.
Over the years, we have sourced textiles from artisan weavers and cooperatives across rural India. We have worked with kantha, shibori, silk, indigo-dyed fabrics and chikankari, each opening up fresh possibilities. There is a particular pleasure in choosing a fabric, holding it in the hand and imagining how it might become part of an object someone will use and cherish.
This Ajrakh Journal continues that exploration. Its intricate patterns bring the beauty of the textile to the cover, while the matching brass bookmark carries one of its motifs into another material. Bringing cloth, paper and brass together is a part of the design process I particularly enjoy.
For me, making these journals is a way to share my affection for Indian textiles and bring them into everyday life. I hope this journal gives you the same pleasure in using it that we have found in creating it, and that its pages gradually fill with thoughts and stories of your own.

Customer Reviews
Love this journal, as I love all Anand Prakash journals I've tried. I use this journal with a fountain pen, and as long as the pressure is okay, it doesn't bleed and glides beautifully. I love the textured paper, the natural looking color, and the rustic jute cover. I purchased many Anand Prakash recycled paper journals and use them for different purposes depending on what the aesthetic makes me think about.
Very well planned range of products that actually connect with Indian sentiments. Hoping for further innovative ranges of diverse products. The journal I took up came up very nice, good picture quality.
The silk diary and gold plated brass pen are truly opulent. Made for special literary art. I was looking to make a collection of my favourite poems and I knew Anand Prakash would have just the right thing.
Just if a cap to the pen would be provided it would be perfect.
Beautiful book. Looks classy and luxurious. I have given it 4 stars since the pages aren't the rustic handmade paper that I love. But other than that, it's a perfect gift for someone who likes to write.

I recently bought Anand Prakash stationery as a birthday gift for a dear friend, and her reaction said it all—she called it the most beautiful gift she has ever received. Each item truly looks like it’s been crafted with incredible patience and artistic finesse. The fine gold plate, the intricate details—everything speaks of love, perfection, and timeless elegance. It’s rare to find products that feel so thoughtfully made. This isn’t just stationery, it’s art.
The Coffee-themed Journal proudly perched on the coffee table, its pages brimming with untold stories and quiet reflections, waiting to be discovered over a sip of coffee!
