The cover is bound in paper with the Devanagari script printed by the silkscreen process. The variation in colour on the cover is achieved by the mixing of three different inks laid out on the silkscreen. The technique of manual silk screen printing is now slowly getting extinct because its a labour-intensive art form. With the advent of machine printing, it has become rare and expensive. At Anand Prakash, we run a few units of manual silk screen printing and are keeping the art form alive.
The pages are made from recycled jute fibre and have not been treated with any colour or dye; they get the off-white shade naturally while the jute rags are being beaten into pulp to make the paper.
